Director, Business Development | Switch
Primary Purpose of Position
Lead, manage and mentor business development team to generate and sell new business through referrals, leads, select RFPs and targeted account opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Internally, lead actual development of proposals/RFPs to clients.
- Develop thorough and insightful sales strategy for targeted opportunities based on agency positioning.
- Prospect for new clients based on agreed upon agency new business strategy.
- Follow agreed upon sales strategy specific to targeted opportunities based on agency positioning.
- Work in conjunction with Creative Development to create specific ideas/content appropriate for client presentation.
- Collaborate as part of pitch team with assigned individuals in Copy, Strategy Development, Marketing, Account Development Group, Practice Lead/Project Management Group.
- Collaborate with New Business Development, Marketing and Creative Development on new business development efforts, leads and referrals.
- Present strategy, concepts, creative and/or project budgets as required, based on role played in pitch team.
- Develop strong client relationships that offer value and strategic insights.
- Present agency capabilities presentation(s) with strong knowledge and confidence in agency product offering/expertise.
- Effectively download and transition new business sales or leads/referrals to Account Development Group or Production Operations, as required at appropriate time.
- Effectively meet agreed upon sales target.
- Manage, as required, spec dollars assigned to specific opportunities.

Educations and Special Skills
- BA/BS/BJ in Communications, Business, Journalism or Marketing. Some graduate work a plus but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with individuals and close business, preferably in an agency environment
Experience
- Minimum ten years experience actively involved in the sales and/or experiential marketing for consumer brands
